Hong Kong regulator simplifies banking system

Large banks operating in Hong Kong will likely merge with smaller deposit-taking companies after the banking regulator issued the latter an ultimatum: boost capital levels or exit the market. Efforts to beef up the banking system come as regulators try to learn from the turmoil at US regional banks.
